Academic Support

Academic supervision for psychotherapy trainees

Completing your training is hard.

The writing doesn't have to be.

The final stretch of a psychotherapy training (case study and transcript write-ups, reflective portfolios, the substantial pieces that determine whether you qualify) can feel isolating. Many trainees find themselves with less support at exactly the point they need it most.

I offer academic support for trainee psychotherapists working on essays, case studies, transcripts, and final qualification requirements. My focus is on helping you think clearly, structure your writing, and bring your clinical understanding onto the page in a way that does justice to the work you've actually done.

This is sometimes called academic supervision – support with the written and reflective elements of your training, distinct from clinical supervision of your practice.

I trained as a Gestalt psychotherapist and am UKCP-registered. I completed my own final requirements with a distinction, and I know what these pieces of writing ask of you – intellectually, emotionally, and practically.

I work particularly well with trainees who learn differently. If you're neurodivergent, if academic writing doesn't come naturally, or if you've struggled to find support that meets you where you are, that's something I have both personal experience of and genuine commitment to.

Supporting your writing beyond training

I also work with qualified therapists who are developing ideas for articles or papers – whether you're at the early stage of thinking something through, or you have a draft that needs a careful read before submission. I can help with theoretical framing and development, structure, argument, clarity, and proofreading.

Fees

My fee is £50 per hour. This applies to sessions and to document review. For longer pieces (case studies, dissertations, or substantial drafts) I will give you a clear time estimate before we begin, so you know what to expect.
